The Sample: NEW IT Cosmetics Your Most Beautiful You 6-Piece Collection (Review, Swatches & Photos)

Wow–it is seriously amazing to me that I used to be able to churn out reviews this size pretty consistently without batting a lash but now, with my busy schedule being what it is (coupled with my general lack of sleep…but that’s nothing new), it took me almost 2 weeks just to finish one! I had to break up the picture-taking and editing into chunks–an hour here, 20 minutes there–before it was finally completed. And just in time too–this sweet 6-piece set from IT Cosmetics is one to definitely check out, and it’s making its debut on QVC, July 13th! (see, told you I posted this just in the nick of time! Phew! :P)

This set, dubbed the “Your Most Beautiful You 6-Piece Collection”, comes with all of IT Cosmetics’ bestsellers (plus some new releases), including the Hello Light Anti-Aging Radiance Crème Illuminator, the new Vitality Lip Blush Hydrating Lip Gloss Stain, Bye Bye Undereye Full Coverage Waterproof Concealer, Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil, Dual Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation & Concealer Brush, and Luxe Pointed Airbrush Complexion Brush.

The Hello Light cream illuminator is an incredibly light cream-to-powder formula (though it doesn’t have that inherently powdery finish like most cream-to-powder formulas do–a fact which I appreciate very much, considering I’m not much of a cream-to-powder fan myself). The cream dries to a very…nothing-like feel, if that makes any sense; it’s virtually weightless and undetectable on the skin!

The illuminator is a pretty golden-champagne hue. As for the shimmer…it has to be seen to be believed–it’s gorgeous! Literally, it is so fine and even that it does not look like shimmer on the skin at all. It just creates light, pure and simple. This is how an illuminator should look!

The Vitality Lip Gloss Stain comes in the shade Je Ne Sais Quoi and is a variation of IT’s popular Lip Flushes (which I’ve reviewed here), but in gloss form. The formula is everything you’d hope/expect it to be: smooth, not too thin and not too thick, non-sticky, super-hydrating, and without offensive taste/scent.

Unlike the Lip Flush, however, the pale, translucent-pink Gloss Stain transforms into a brightened, cool-toned pink almost immediately upon contact with your skin/lips. But like its Lip Flush counterpart, it does indeed stain the lips quite well, with the stain lasting all day, easily.

–can you see the softly curved shape of the doe-foot?–

Now on to the Bye Bye Undereye. I don’t think I need to go into too much detail about this one–it’s very popular for a reason; they weren’t kidding when they called this a full-coverage concealer! I had never tried a full-coverage concealer formula before. Honestly, I was a bit scared–when I hear “full-coverage”, I think “cakey” or even “fake”. But when I first tested out this formula, I was pleasantly surprised that although the formula is as thick as one would expect from a heavy-duty, waterproof concealer, it was surprisingly light and blended beautifully into the skin!

And when they say waterproof, they mean waterproof; Bye Bye Undereye will not budge! I jumped into the shower wearing it in shade Neutral Medium (you can also choose from Light, Tan, or Deep) and came out with my concealer looking just as pristine as before. This stuff is no joke! The brand managed all of this without having the concealer look cakey or accentuate dryness/skin texture around the eyes (unlike Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer).

Next comes the Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil. This pencil only comes in 1 shade–a soft, very cool brown with slight grey tones. It’s supposedly a universal, one-size-fits-all kind of shade but can be customized to your perfect color match by adjusting the pressure you use when applying it. IT recommends to “apply lighter, softer strokes to match lighter color hair including blond and silver” and “press harder for darker hair including medium brown to black.”

The pencil is hard but glides across the skin easily and is actually quite pigmented. The texture is really perfect for customizing the color according to pressure, like IT recommends. I was a bit skeptical that one shade could truly suit all but I actually quite like how the color looks on my skin. It might be a bit more brown than I’m used to but luckily, since it’s summer and my hair is currently pretty light, it suits me nicely. However, during the fall and winter, I would probably switch back to something with a bit more grey in it. I do think overall though that this color will suit the majority of people.

Lastly, we have the brushes. They are very well made and feature a nice, matte black rubberized handle for easy gripping. The Dual Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation & Concealer Brush is, obviously, dual-ended and makes for a very convenient application tool (though a bit of a pain to store in the usual brush holders/cups). But the hairs are so dense and soft and hold their shape very well (I’ve washed each brush twice, now). All of IT’s brushes are 100% cruelty-free.

On IT’s site, this brush is also called the Dual Powder & Micro-Powder Brush. They suggest using the larger end to powder larger areas and the smaller end to powder smaller areas like the sides of the nose, in between the eyes, etc. Because the brush is so dense, I do think it would lend itself well to mineral or pressed powder foundation application. But I prefer to use the brush to apply my liquid and cream base products. I have been using the large end to buff in my liquid foundation and the smaller end to blend out the Bye Bye Undereye (this is hands down my favorite new brush. Makes my concealer look AMAZING!). This combination leaves me with the most flawless finish ever!

–Foundation/bigger end of the Dual Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation & Concealer Brush–

–Concealer/smaller end of the Dual Heavenly Luxe Airbrush Foundation & Concealer Brush–

As for the Luxe Pointed Airbrush Complexion Brush, I was a little confused as to how I would use it at first. But in the booklet that comes with the set, they recommend to use it with the Hello Light Illuminizer, using the small precision tip to perfectly highlight every area, from the brow bone to cupid’s bow to inner eyes. To highlight larger areas, simply lay the brush head flat against the skin–the brush is perfectly tapered to do so.

–Luxe Pointed Airbrush Complexion Brush (isn’t the tip so cute? It’s like a little pointed elf foot or something :P)–

All in all, I would say this set is a definite, definite must-have for anyone–from IT newbies to the most devoted fans. There is everything you need in here to create a flawless, naturally glowing look; the set really does bring out the best you, possible, without making it look like you’ve caked on the makeup to get the look! And at only $59 a pop, it’s seriously a steal-of-a-deal. But be sure to check out IT’s special on QVC at midnight ((July 13th at 12AM PST) for a very special sale!!!

This is a beautiful set and the price point can’t be bet! I’ve never tried anything from IT Cosmetics but have been eyeing those Vitality Lip Flushes…

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 5:21 pm #

Ooh they are SO nice–I think they’d be beautiful on you! Especially Love Story–it’s a really gorgeous warm pink and perfect for summer! :D

And yes, the pricing for SIX pieces is crazy good but apparently at midnight tonight, the set will be even FURTHER discounted so be sure to check it out, Monika!! :) Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. Catherine @ bcrueltyfree July 12, 2013 at 6:44 pm #

Lovely review, Becca! The illuminator looks absolutely gorgeous and I always seem to like IT brushes. I also want to try that concealer at some point for sure

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 8:50 pm #

I was VERY impressed with their concealer! I’d heard so many good things but was really scared of getting that caked-on look, as my undereye area seems to not work with as many creamy, thick concealers, these days :/ But this stuff is amazing–covers everything without looking too heavy! I think you’d really like it, Catherine :)

Hope you have a lovely weekend!! <3

  4. Taylor July 12, 2013 at 6:55 pm #

This set looks amazing!i love the Bye Bye! I have dark under eye pigmentation and this is the only one that fully covers with completely natural fiinish. I picked up a double-sided concealer brush along with the concealer on QVC and love it as well, great value! I’m so curious to try the other brushes and love the cruelty-free factor. The loss also sounds amazing!

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 8:52 pm #

I remember you talking about the concealer and how much you loved it but honestly, I still was scared to try it. I thought it would be way too heavy or pigmented for my taste. But seriously–as you mentioned, it covers EVERYTHING but still looks totally natural. Not sure how they made such a lovely formula but I love it :)

And I imagine the gloss would be SO gorgeous with your skin tone and hair, Taylor!! It’s really a nice one–def check it out!

Wow I really like this set! I hope it comes to the Canadian Shopping channel too!

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 9:58 pm #

ME TOO–You guys REALLY deserve this one, it’s a great set!! :D

  6. Larie July 12, 2013 at 9:09 pm #

Everything looks super impressive! I am loathe to try new brands through things like this though, mostly because returns aren’t as convenient or even possible in some cases. That is a very impressive concealer, though, and the lip flushes sound tempting every time!

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 10:00 pm #

Oooh yeah :/ To be completely honest, I completely understand because I am the same way. It’s only because IT Cosmetics has sent me samples before that I know it’s a great brand. Otherwise, I would definitely have my own reservations about ordering a full-on set like these too :P But really, if you ever get a chance to try ANYTHING from the brand, DO IT! You won’t regret it :)

  7. Sunny July 12, 2013 at 10:00 pm #

The brushes are so cute! Not sure about the color of the brow pencil though. I’m so convinced I won’t find anything that works better than the Hourglass one ;)

    • becca July 12, 2013 at 10:04 pm #

Ooooh you use the Hourglass one, now? HOW AMAZING IS IT?!!! That’s my HG pencil for sure. This IT one is def more brown than I like but its still surprisingly flattering on me. But, as you stated, Hourglass still has my heart 100% though :P Have to repurchase another one soon!

  8. Claire July 13, 2013 at 2:35 pm #

Great value! I like the gloss the best, I wish I had a dress in that colour :)

    • becca July 14, 2013 at 12:11 am #

A dress in that color WOULD be pretty!! :D

  9. Liz July 13, 2013 at 10:39 pm #

That illuminator is STUNNING. That and the pointed brush are the only items I’d be interested in, but what a great value overall!

Hope you’re doing okay, wifey, and take it easy. :)

    • becca July 14, 2013 at 12:14 am #

Aaaahhh, my other half–I miss you so much! How are things?? I know I know I’ve been a horrible wife and totally disappeared. I’ve been sooo busy! :/ What’s new?? How’s your summer been?

Isn’t the illuminator gorgeous? It really is absolutely stunning and SO natural-looking on the cheeks–you just look like a glowy fairy or something :P I only wish it lasted a bit longer but hey, my skin is CRAZY oily, espcially during the summer :/

  10. Toya July 15, 2013 at 7:22 am #

My aunt gifted me that concealer at the same time she gave me the original Je Ne Sais Quoi lippie, but sadly unlike the success I had with the lippie, the concealer is WAY too dark for me! I don’t know how vast the difference is between it and the ‘tan’ shade (only having 4 shades makes me wonder how vast in tone the shades are), but it really sucks because I’ve heard Taylor rave about it and it sounds like my kind of concealer! Maybe I’ll get a chance to try it properly one day!

    • becca July 15, 2013 at 2:56 pm #

Really? Ah, that sucks! Yeah definitely do wish there were more of a range of shades. The formula is SO popular that maybe one day they will! *fingers crossed!*

But enough about that, how are YOU, my dear?? I haven’t talked to you in a while! :( What’s been up?

  11. S. Drama&Makeup July 16, 2013 at 4:05 am #

I think I just fell in love with that illuminator! x

    • becca July 16, 2013 at 2:51 pm #

I don’t blame you–if you think it’s gorgeous in the photos, you HAVE to see it in person! It’s unreal!! :D

  12. fairytalesandcoffee July 19, 2013 at 4:36 am #

This is a really cute set. I like the mini brushes and the illuminator, but not much else. I have been meaning to try one of their blushes eventually, probably in the fall. You know, I feel you on the whole squeezing in blogging. It’s been very difficult as of late but at least you are still putting out reviews. I notice I have pockets of time, but can’t seem to be blog productive during it because I just want to relax and blogging is not relaxing in a time crunch.

    • becca July 19, 2013 at 5:46 pm #

Haha yes, it is most definitely getting harder and harder to get the blogging in. When I have free time too, all I want to do is go out and be in the sunshine. Sometimes, I will just put on my bikini and soak up some sun while I’m taking the product photos but the writing part is kinda killin me :P Funny since it actually used to be the other way around! haha

It sounds like you’ve actually been out and about enjoying your summer though so I’m glad to hear it! :)

  13. Meryl @ Memoiselle July 20, 2013 at 6:40 am #

    Hi Becca!
The brush reminds me of Becca Concealer Brush! It looks so fluffy :)
This is such a great value set!

    • becca July 23, 2013 at 2:21 am #

I agree–really, really a great deal! And all the products are fabulous too–no duds here! :P haha

How has your summer been, Meryl? I miss talking to you!! :*(

  14. Tiffany August 11, 2013 at 8:38 pm #

I really need to try It Cosmetics asap! I actually want to try their Bye Bye Redness, but I hate that it only comes in one shade and I’m almost certain it’s too dark for me :( I want to try their under-eye concealer as well but I need to use what I have first :)

    • becca August 12, 2013 at 12:49 am #

Yes you do–IT Cosmetics is an awesome brand!! I haven’t heard of the Bye Bye Redness but now I’m super curious!! Googling now…:P
