Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi-Use Blush–Classic in 202 Spark (Review, Swatches & Photos)

For many of us, though it is now officially spring, we still have to deal with a multitude of problems coming straight out of winter. Dry, scaly skin, a pallid, lifeless complexion…it’s hard to get into the spirit of spring when looking in the mirror yields dull skin and wan, decidedly un-rosy and very un-spring-y (??) cheeks. That’s where Vapour Organic Beauty’s Aura Multi-Use Blush in Spark comes in.

Vapour Beauty has 3 different variations of their Multi-Use Blush available: Classic, Stain, and Radiant. Classic is available in 5 universally flattering shades. These shades contain no shimmer and are meant to provide a sheer wash of color to the cheeks. The Stain version provides more rich, saturated, long-lasting color. Radiant contains shimmer, acting as a 2-in-1 highlighter/blush. Spark is part of the Classic line.

Spark is described as a “sheer pinky peach”. It’s a gorgeous, mid-tone peach with slight pink tones. Now, when I say matte I mean sans-shimmer. That does not mean that the finish is a flat matte! Because of the lovely balmy consistency and the natural oils, it leaves behind a beautiful, natural semi-matte finish–very pretty and oh-so-important during the winter when your skin is lacking its own natural dewiness.

The texture and consistency is very similar to Vapour’s Solar Translucent Bronzer, which I’ve reviewed–so be sure to check it out if you’re curious. I would say that the bronzer is a bit more balmy than the blush, which is a touch thicker and more creamy. It takes a pass or 2 to kind of warm up but once it does, it glides across the skin with ease. As creamy as it looks in the heavy swatch below, it blends out beautifully–really, really easily. I mean it seriously is like silk and dries down to a nice finish.

Like the bronzer, this blush stick has a lovely, slightly fruity smell to it–it’s beautiful but really natural and quite light. It dissipates quickly, so there’s no need to worry.

On the cheeks, Spark is incredibly natural looking. There is no way that anyone looking at your skin–no matter how seasoned of makeup-users they are or how close they are to your face–would ever be able to tell that you were wearing cheek color when you have this on. It just looks so natural and effortless! The blush really melts into your skin and blends seamlessly. What I also like about this product is that you can blend and blend but it never goes patchy on you (a common problem I experience when trying to blend out cream-to-powder blushes). Not that you even have to blend this out that much…only a few dabs here and there and I’m good to go–it’s so easy!

Spark lasted about 3 hours on my oily skin. Those with dry or normal skin will love this blush. I like it a lot but obviously, it won’t be my go-to as my oily skin just eats it right up! It also works well as a base for powder blushes, though. I like topping it with just a touch of Paul & Joe’s Cheek Color duo in Cinema.

Spark really puts a beautiful, lively pop of natural-looking color back into the cheeks that harsh, dry and/or chilled air has stripped away and creates the most sweet spring-flushed cheeks. This can also be handy on the go during the summer when you need multitasking products that can be applied with fingers and sans mirror. It’s a great product–worth every penny. There’s a reason why this blush won the Allure Best of Beauty award in 2010, you know–they don’t hand out those awards to just anybody!

Oh wow, just by seeing the bullet I wouldn’t know how intense it swatches! I don’t really think this is for me, since I have combination skin and in summer it might slide off after half a day but still, the color is adorable!

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 4:00 pm #

Aw yeah it’ll def be the best for dry-normal skin but I must say, it does last a lot longer on me than I thought it would. It has a very thin, silky texture for being so creamy…if that makes sense :P

  2. Jacqueline April 10, 2013 at 5:50 am #

Try the Daniel Sandler Watercolor blushes they last the whole day on my oily face and I love how easy they are to blend.

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 4:03 pm #

Oooh that’s right–I always forget about Daniel Sandler. I remember seeing the review on your blog though–I really must try one! I think it’s only available online though and I usually hate ordering sight unseen…BUT, I’ve heard so many consistently good reviews for his blushes that I may as well just order it already :P

    Hi Becca!
That is a lovely color. I noticed on the VB website, they offer a $15 sampler pack with which you receive a $10 coupon with which to apply to your next order. I’m thinking about doing this. I’ve heard lovely things as well about their foundation stick, too.

Ooh what a lovely deal–do it, do it! What’s your skin type, Belly? And do you usually like cream products a lot? I know that Kate from Drivel about Frivol has said good things about the foundation stick but I don’t think it would work for my oily skin. I love the cream blush and bronzer, even though it doesn’t stay put on my skin for as long as I’d like

This looks BEAUTIFUL. I’ve never heard of Vapour, actually. Love the sound of that Classics line!

I’ve been incorporating a bit more highlight to the face routine lately and the result is that I want a shimmer-free blush with a natural sheen. This sounds perfect! <3

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 4:06 pm #

Oh Vapour does the natural sheen thing *beautifully*–their products are so balmy and contain all these great oils that just give your skin a dewy glow yet it doesn’t feel sticky or oily in the slightest. It dries down to a nice silky finish, actually–I was so surprised! I think you would love these blushes, dearey! :)

  5. Toya April 10, 2013 at 9:25 am #

I love blushes like this that leave a natural glow to the cheek, but like you they’re not my absolute faves in practice because of my oilier skin. That being said, sometimes if I know I’m only gonna be out for a few hours, I’ll totally grab something like this for the perfect way to look perky in seconds! It sure does look gorgeous Becca…

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 4:08 pm #

I know–it definitely won’t be a go-to for me but on summer days or days that I am just going to pop out for a second, there’s nothing like adding a dab of this to the cheeks (and paired with the Simmer bronzer, it’s STUNNING!). It just makes my cheeks look so lively and youthful–very dewy without being greasy at all. I swear! It may not last long but it never looks oily ever!

  6. Taylor April 10, 2013 at 3:44 pm #

I love vapour! It’s definitely one of my favorite cream blushes, the stain blush smells incredible! Love this peachy shade :-)

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 4:09 pm #

Oooh which Stain shade do you have, Taylor?? I was looking at those shades online and they look so bright and gorgeous–I wonder how the formula compares to the Classic!

  7. Tracy@Beauty Reflections April 10, 2013 at 4:38 pm #

    WOWZA LOOK AT IT!!
I might just have to order this one! My dry cheeks are yearning for it now Becca! YEARNING. :P

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 5:04 pm #

Hahaha you won’t be sorry, Tracy! You are going to LOVE this. LOVE it, I say!! :P But really, it’s amazingly thin and balmy for such a creamy formula so that it blends out like a dream. Let me know if you do get it and tell me what you think!! :D

  8. Procrastinator April 10, 2013 at 5:36 pm #

Oh god, a creamy, multi-use product in a neutral, flattering pink. It’s like every makeup purchase I’ve ever pondered. This is gorgeously pigmented; for some reason I thought it’d be really sheer. I agree that some cream blushes can get patchy, like the pigment won’t lay down smoothly or something.

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 5:45 pm #

I know–that’s exactly it! I usually only have the problem with cream-to-powder formulas though, which is why I don’t favor them. A true cream formula doesn’t last quite as long on me but to me, it’s worth it for the nicer texture and non-patchiness :)

  9. Larie April 10, 2013 at 5:59 pm #

Holy cow that’s pretty! I thought about buying some of their products before, but never actually did. I can’t believe how creamy and pigmented that is! And the color! So fab.

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 6:28 pm #

You have normal skin, right Larie? Or is it combo…I think you would love this though (and hey, no parabens!! :D)! It looks super creamy in the heavy swatch but once you blend it out, it feels surprisingly light/thin and silky! I love it so much. Of course, I do wish it lasted a bit longer on my oily skin but really, no cream blush can. And for a formula this balmy and lovely, it’s sooo worth it!

  10. Catherine (@bcrueltyfree) April 10, 2013 at 9:09 pm #

Wow! This looks so juicy swatched, like pink watermelon. I was expecting a lot more peachiness. Either way, it’s such a beautiful color!

    • becca April 10, 2013 at 9:21 pm #

Yeah swatched, it’s much more pinky than peachy but still very warm and gorgeous! Have you tried anything from Vapour Beauty, Catherine? I think you would really like this brand :)

  11. Sukie April 11, 2013 at 11:34 pm #

Gosh Becca! That’s a really pretty blush! I don’t think they’ve got it here in Malaysia though! May actually ask if some friends can help send one (or two, maybe more) over to me!

    • becca April 12, 2013 at 2:07 am #

That would be awesome! Always let me know if you need anything, Sukie! :) I think you would like the formula of this a lot but obviously, be aware that if you have oily or even combo skin, it won’t last very long on the cheeks. At least not without topping with a powder blush. Still, this is definitely one of the best cream blush formula’s I’ve tried. It’s so easy to use and nice and silky!

  12. Makeup Morsels April 11, 2013 at 11:42 pm #

Oh, I was totally expecting a sheer peach and then I saw the swatch! It’s such a gorgeous shade, and I love that finish too. I would actually love a lipcolor just like this :P

    • becca April 12, 2013 at 2:09 am #

Isn’t it gorgeous?? Much more pink in the swatches, for sure! and actually, this works quite well on the lips too (I don’t think I mentioned that in the post…whoops! Might go update now :P). It obviously isn’t going to win any awards when up against a real lipstick but for a cream blush, it feels nice on the lips! It’s the first cream blush I’ve EVER used as a lipstick that hasn’t completely dried out my lips. It actually makes them feel quite moisturized–I swear! It’s not too pigmented though but it looks lovely and subtle when you’re wearing the same shade on your cheeks as well :)

  13. BooBooNinja April 12, 2013 at 12:17 am #

Yay! I think I may have found the natural-finish cream blush I didn’t know I was looking for! The one cream blush I had (Canmake Cream Cheek) set to a powdery dry finish. Thank goodness it didn’t turn me off cream blush — I guess you get what you pay for! I have. My only non-powder blush is a liquid, and I’m still trying to figure out how to hang onto some of its dewiness.

After August hits, I’m going to look into this brand. Thanks, girl!

    • becca April 12, 2013 at 2:15 am #

A lot of cream blushes these days are actually cream-to-powder–I wish more brands would specify this! I personally don’t like that kind of cream formula either–I find it doesn’t look as natural or blend as nicely. I think you would really love this one a lot–it’s a gorgeous formula and a lovely, natural finish! :) I hope you do check it out–and be sure to let me know what you think!!

  14. Gummy April 12, 2013 at 8:40 am #

This color is so darn beautiful!!! What impressed me most in your review is what you said about it not being patchy when blended out…not an easy feat in the cream blusher world!! I tried a sampler pack from Vapour last year…3 colors in a foundation and then 2 colors in a blush. I wasn’t thrilled about the foundation, though I did really like the blusher!! I just thought it was really neat for a company to offer samples…wish more did!

    • becca April 12, 2013 at 3:15 pm #

Ooh I didn’t know they did that either–I’m going to check that out now :P Sorry the foundation didn’t work for you–I’ve heard a lot of good reviews but they’ve been mostly from very dry-skinned people. Which one did you try–stick or that Atmosphere one? And what was wrong with it?

      • Gummy April 24, 2013 at 8:14 am #

I tried the Atmosphere one. It felt heavy on my skin and stayed that way all day. Also none of the colors were a good match for me…but mostly I didn’t like how it felt on my skin.

        • becca April 24, 2013 at 3:07 pm #

Oh no really? I had heard really good things about that one too. I figured they’d all be too hydrating for my oily skin though, so ultimately I passed. I do have the Stratus Soft Focus Instant Skin Perfector though. I haven’t thoroughly tested it yet though but I’ve tried it and while I was hesitant at first, it’s actually kinda awesome! Kinda reminds me of Hourglass’ N28 serum/primer except a bit thicker and more perfecting somehow. I’ve only played with it at home though so I’m reaaally hoping that actual testing outside of the house will yield good results and that the formula doesn’t break me out!

  15. Emi at Project Swatch April 12, 2013 at 9:50 pm #

This is gorgeous! I’ve heard only good things about Vapour Beauty – must try them out some time!

    • becca April 13, 2013 at 6:24 pm #

I think you would love the brand, Emi! Their products seem to be really, really great for dry/normal skin! And the shades are wow! Check out the Stain version of the cream blushes, Emi–the shades are sooo you! :)

  16. Lily April 14, 2013 at 2:16 am #

The colour looks great! Too bad it doesn’t stay too long on you :-(

    • becca April 14, 2013 at 5:03 pm #

I know :/ That is the trade-off with these cream formulas though–gorgeous texture and better blending capabilities than a cream-to-powder formula but lessened wear time :/ I love the shade though and this one is easy to top with a powder blush without (again) looking spotty so I’m glad to have this in my arsenal :) Do you use cream blushes often, Lily??

  17. JoanneP April 16, 2013 at 7:29 pm #

Never heard of the brand. That’s why I love reading blogs. I learn something everyday. It sounds like a great blush. Now that I feel more comfortable with cream blushes, this is definitely going into my to-try list. The price for the amount isn’t bad at all!!! Excited!

    • becca April 17, 2013 at 12:58 am #

Ooh yay–if you do try it, let me know what you think, Joanne!! It might not be the longest lasting blush on you (you have combo-oily skin right??) but it has such a lovely texture and the color is glorious!! :D

  18. KammyH May 2, 2013 at 9:32 am #

I love Vapour! Spark is suck a beautiful, natural color. If you can find a color in the stain that you like, you really should give that a try! The staying power is amazing! I so wish there was a way to get Spark in the stain formula! That would be perfection!

    • becca May 2, 2013 at 2:51 pm #

Oooh now you have me curious about the stain formula. I love the Original but I have very oily skin so it doesn’t stay put for nearly as long as I’d like! What shade(s) do you have in that formula, Kammy? Have you tried anything else from the brand that you’d recommend? :D
