Yes, I’ve got more lovely Jouer goodies to share with you guys today! In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve really been loving this brand lately. I just love the simple, paired-down aesthetic of the line–it’s a little reminiscent Laura Mercier…except with way cooler packaging! Jouer offers superior formulas, lovely textures, super wearable shades, and intelligent packaging. It’s perfect really–no muss, no fuss just brilliant products that are pretty and work. Today, I’m showing you a cream product from the line–the aptly titled Highlighter. From Jouer:
“These lightweight cream highlighters instantly illuminate cheekbones, eyes and décolleté, providing a stunning luminescence with a sheer, sheen finish.”
I received the shade Tiare, a shimmering, warm creamy-gold. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but the Tiare is a type of gardenia that is native to Tahiti. You may have heard of monoi oil before (a heavenly perfumed oil that I’ve taken to using in place of fragrance lately)? Well the tiare flower is the flower that perfumes monoi oil. I think Tiare is the perfect name for this glowy-gold highlighter–it evokes more a feeling than the physical form of the flower, if that makes sense. It calls to mind warm, tropical days and golden sand and sunshine. In a word, it’s beautiful.

Now don’t be deceived by the simple and straight-forward “Highlighter” moniker–this highlighter is anything but boring. It has an incredibly smooth and silky balm consistency. It’s not slick in that overtly silicone-y way but the oils and waxes in this highlighter make for an amazingly luxurious, satiny feel. It spreads with ease across the skin and hardly takes any effort at all to blend. The resulting gilded sheen is very smooth and even–it’s hard to discern any individual shimmer particles because the thin, silken texture of the product melts into the skin so well and the shimmer is so, so fine.
When it comes to cream products, I usually prefer to use my (clean) fingers to better melt the product and work it into the skin. This highlighter is just brilliant when used that way–you can use a brush of course, but I just find that the finish is much more seamless when applied with fingers.

*Pardon the surface–I nicked it with my nail literally right before taking these photos :/

As far as packaging goes, please refer to my original review of the Mineral Powder Bronzer in Suntan for more details.
I compared Tiare to 2 other highlighters in my collection that I thought were the most similar–my JK Jemma Kidd Spotlight Intense Highlight Crème in After Show (a really beautiful and affordable highlighting stick. I’m surprised these don’t get more love–I’ve never heard anyonemention them before) and Giorgio Armani’s Fluid Sheer #2. The biggest difference between these 3 is that Tiare is creates the most even, natural-looking sheen. Both After Show and the Fluid Sheer #2 are beautiful but you are able to make out individual micro-shimmer particles on the skin. Tiare, meanwhile, just yields an ultra-fine glow. After Show and Tiare are closest but you can see that After Show is much more a pale white-gold and Tiare is much warmer and a touch darker.
Though the color is quite warm, it will be no less flattering on cooler skin tones. The lovely Charleston Girl over at Best Things in Beauty reviewed this one a while back and on her fairer, cool-toned skin, Tiare took on a slight rose tint. Still, if Tiara doesn’t work for you, Jouer has 2 other shades available: Camellia (shimmering pearl white) and Champagne (shimmering pink).
Tiare lasted about 5 hours before fading noticeably, which is fantastic for a cream product on my oily skin. This is by far one of my favorite products I’ve tried from Jouer thus far. The pigmentation is perfect, the glow is insanely gorgeous, the texture is luxurious…there’s not much more I can say–just look at those swatches! You need this highlighter. It’s a great first product to try for those of you who have been curious about the brand! You will fall in love.
Pros: gorgeous, gorgeous color; fine shimmer creates an even, natural sheen; color is flattering for all skin tones; texture is ultra silky and blends easily; good wear time; packaging is simple and useful
Cons: none at all!

I was just looking at the Jouer website LOL
So curious about the brand. Glad to hear this highlighter cream works well!
Oooh yay!! Did you decide to pick up anything?? The blush, tinted moisturizer, and highlighter are all favorites–I haven’t tried any of the eyeshadows but I REALLY want to now!!
Pretty! I have a few powder highlighters, but at some point I realized that I like liquid ones better
Oops.
Oh Larie–you HAVE to check this one out. It’s GORGEOUS!! Plus, it’s paraben-free!
What are some of your favorite liquid highlighters?? The only one I’ve got is the Giorgio Armani but I want more now!! I think I might go for a Becca one next…
Hi Becca, what a pretty golden sheen! I see what you mean about warm/cool. This one does seem to fall on the cooler end of the spectrum
Oh I meant it’s quite warm
Maybe my pictures are a little off but it’s really a gorgeous warm gold! You have to try it if you can!!
Wow what an incredibly gorgeous shade. It looks like a similar color to Josie Maran’s argan liquid highlight, but the finish of that product did NOT flatter my oily skin haha. I’m with you on the packaging – love the minimal-but-still-pretty design! Now that you mention it, it does have a bit of a similar look to Laura Mercier (which is one of my favorite brands, so definitely a good thing in my books!)
It’s really beautiful. I can’t recommend this brand more–I’ve loved everything I’ve tried from them! Laura Mercier is one of my favorite brands too and Jouer is right up there too, now!
This is so pretty! I’m also intrigued by the JK Aftershow highlighter – it’s lovely. I’ll have to see if they have it the next time I’m at Target!
I am in LOVE with this highlighter, Emi! You have to try it! The JK Jemma Kidd one is really good too–especially for the price! Definitely check it out at Target when you can! They have another color (I think called A-List…I will check later) that’s beautiful too!
I looked for Aftershow at Target, but it was out of stock, and the whole line is clearanced! I’ll keep an eye out for it at other locations, though.
Aw thats too bad! I know, at my Target, the JK items are always out of stock. But I haven’t been there in a while, so I wonder if they’re all on clearance at yours if they won’t be stocking the line anymore? I will make a Target run in the next few weeks and if I see one, I’ll be sure to grab it for you!
Thank you!! I knew the highlighter would be right up my alley and to be honest, the name is just even more tempting, lol. I can’t wait for my Jouer products to arrive
DD
Ooooh what all did you get, Claire? I’m so excited for you!!
some lip and cheek tint, blush … but I should have include this highlighter as well! *sigh* and I forgot to order e/s >.> I was too excited, lol
What shades of each did you get??! I seriously am so excited right now–I LOVE this brand!
I haven’t tried the Tints yet but I really want to!! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
I can’t remember all the names becca :O but the colour family is red, berry, pink
I really want that highlighter now >.> need to get it with my second order and those e/s I forgot
Oooh–maybe Dahlia (berry), Amaryllis (red), and Petal (rosy pink)?? You lucky, lucky girl! I so look forward to your reviews on them!!
Beautiful highlighter!!
It really is!! Have you tried anything from this brand, Bo?
This looks gorgeous! I have recently picked up something from Jouer and im in love. I think I must have a gold highlighter in my collection. lovely!!
xo
Oooh what did you get, Taylor? I’m curious to know! I am LOVING this brand and can’t wait to get my hands on more!!
I’m sure Jouer is one of your favorite brands lately
I can see how pretty this highlighter is. I agree that this might be too dark for fair skintone but I think this would still look pretty on fair skintone to highlight the browbone.
Haha–that obvious, huh?!
I really am LOVING this brand though. Absolutely everything I’ve tried has been high-quality and stunning beyond belief. I also love the unique packaging and the prices are quite reasonable. Do you think you will try anything from them?
Thanks for the swatch! I love the idea, branding, and packaging for Jouer, but I have never jumped on it. Mostly because I forget that it even exists. Perhaps, sometime in 2013 I will see if they have something not in my stash.
A lot of people seem to forget about Jouer, but it really is a fantastic brand! I love everything I’ve tried! I really hope you do try something from them–I think you’ll be happy you did
Awesome review! You tempt me to order it right away hahaha. I’m composing a Jouer wish list based on your posts ;;)
YAY! You have to definitely let me know if you do end up with anything! I think you’ll love it–whatever IT is that you choose
I MUST HAVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s BEAUTIFUL. Oh god, I love shiny golden creams so much. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME???? (aka Thank you! lol) When I haul a giant Jouer purchase some day, it’s all thanks to you, dearest.
LOL just tryin’ to do my job!
I can’t wait for you to try the brand–you will be so glad you did!
AHHHH you’re right! it is SOOO pretty and I would love it haha. AHHHHH so pretty. i’m dying.
