The Fall 2012 shows have so far been a veritable gold mine of stunning makeup and hair looks that are fresh enough for Spring but neutral enough for Fall. I was so inspired when I saw all the amazing looks created, so I thought I’d share my favorites!
1. Valentino–Last season, it was the coronet of braids that celebrities everywhere scrambled to copy-pairing it with their equally pretty dresses from the same collection (see photo above). The hair haloed the models’ heads and gave such a romantic, laid-back yet chic look. This season, Valentino girls were rocking a similar haloed-hair effect, but updated with a sleek feel. Famed hair guru Guido Palau created a 70′s inspired hairstyle that featured a middle part with 2 twists going down the sides of the head, meeting at the nape of the neck, then twisting into a low bun. The legendary Pat McGrath created a soft eye that used muted colors but still stood out in a big way. She used grays, mauves, and lavenders on the eye with natural, filled-in brows, bulked-up 60′s style lashes, and of course, flawless skin to compliment (she chose to forgo blush but highlighted the face in all the right places). See what I mean when I say that this look is soft enough for spring yet cool enough for fall? The models look so feminine and pretty!
2. Stella McCartney–Remember Stella’s Pre-Fall 2012 presentation that led me to one of my currents faves, MAC’s Cremeblend Blush in Something Special? (if not, click here for my review). Well, the girls’ natural-looking flushed cheeks were paired with a gorgeous cobalt-blue cat-eye. So this year, Stella played off the look and added another pop of this pretty color-this time to the lashes. Lashes were treated to a few coats of the new Cover Girl Lash Blast 24H mascara (which is also what Pat McGrath used at the Valentino show), which acted as a base for the brilliant blue gel she painted over it. Everything else on the face was kept very simple and natural, allowing the eyes to be the star of the show. Hair was pulled back into a simple and slightly mussed bun. I am completely obsessed with this look. It’s so simple but so fun! I am now on the hunt for a super-pigmented electric-blue mascara. Any suggestions?
3. Chloé–Meanwhile, brows were the star over at this show. As you can see in the image below, skin was flawless and slightly dewy, lips were treated to an ever so slight wash of soft peach, and brows were lightly filled-in and brushed upwards. The models’ eyes were left completely bare-and they still looked gorgeous! The finished look was so fresh and youthful and hip. They really got the no-makeup makeup look down pat! That, and Sigrid Agren is friggin’ flawless.
5. Gucci–Ok, so not all of us may be able to pull-off the ethereal and otherworldly no-brows look, but the rest of the look is to-die-for and certainly much more wearable. Hair was parted down the middle then curled with a 1-inch curling iron in small sections, away from the face. The top was then flat-ironed. 2 sections at the top of the head near the part were twisted backwards (again, away from the face) and secured with 2 bobbi pins (to ensure a tight hold, criss-cross the pins, forming an X with them). A sparkly barrette (made exlusively for the show. Darn!) was clipped over that. Simple! Lips were layered with 3 different products, first a “blackened-burgundy” pencil over the entire mouth, then topped with a layer of CoverGirl Queen Collection Lipstick in Fine Wine (applied with a lip brush), then just a bit of CoverGirl Lip Perfection in Hot in the center of the lips. The end result was a slightly gothic but very romantic look. If you don’t copy anything else from this look, at least copy the hair! The style is already a springtime staple, but the addition of the jeweled barrette really adds an interesting twist!
And there you have it! So what are some of your favorite looks from the Fall 2012 shows? Share!
