The Sample: Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 Review
11 Jan
Oh my goodness, is this stuff good people! I can officially say that I’m in the know now! It was only a matter of time before I caved and betrayed my beloved (and now sadly obsolete) Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1. But it’s not my fault! The online community has spoken, and they’ve deemed Jack Black’s lip balm the BEST lip balm EVER…so obviously, I was more than a little intrigued and decided to drive my butt to the mall for the express purpose of picking me up one of these bad boys.
Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm SPF 25 can be purchased at Nordstrom or Sephora and is available in 5 varieties: Black Tea & Blackberry (pictured above), Grapefruit & Ginger, Lemon & Chamomile, Original, and Vanilla & Lavender. At $7.50, these guys are such a steal and so hord-worthy. All the “flavors” are really great, but my favorite was definitely the Black Tea & Blackberry. As I sit here typing this out, I’ve been wearing an application of the lip balm for almost 4 hours now-and unbelievably, my lips still feel moist. You don’t understand what a huge feat that is for me. Even a half hour would normally be too much for me to hope for. My lips devour any kind of balm that I apply within 20 minutes flat-no matter what. I don’t even understand where it all goes! Now with the especially dry winter weather, my lips have been worse than ever. I’ve been sticking with Aquaphor and the Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1-but even those are temporary fixes that disappear rather quickly. That’s why I’m so completely amazed with the Jack Black balm. This stuff has serious staying power! My lips still feel so soft, supple, and moist. There is most definitely still a layer of product on my lips even after all these hours. And to think, this morning when I woke up I had full on chapped, cracked, flaking lips (no joke).
Now automatically, you’re probably thinking it has to feel seriously gross and sticky to be able to last that long, but it honestly doesn’t. My lips feel supremely moisturized and plush and comfortable in every way. Once applied, the balm produces a slight tingly feeling. I’m not even sure “tingly” is the right word. It’s like my lips are pleasantly buzzed! It’s almost the same feeling you get from the Kiehl’s balm…or a few beers. Plus, these lip balms have an incredible SPF of 25 (very rare in lip products) which is super important to me because I have about 7 freckles on my lips and I’m runnin’ outta room here!
Lip Balm #1 only has an SPF of 5 and while it is cheaper per ounce, the JB balm is much richer and more concentrated and since it stays on so well, it will last much longer. Although I do find that I end up using much more of the JB balm than I really need to because it just smells so damn good!! *edit: 1 tube lasted me about a month and a half-and that’s with me re-applying about 3-4 times a day (not because I have to but because I’m so addicted!! I love applying it, I love smelling it, I love how it makes my lips feel…can you tell I’m in love?). That’s how concentrated this stuff is!
Pros: lasts for hours, makes a great overnight lip treatment, incredibly moisturizing, surprisingly non-sticky, smells/tastes amazing, great variety of scents to choose from, SPF 25!, contains great ingredients
Cons: absolutely none!
»»Pricing: $7.50/0.25 oz. tube
